🐍 How to play Snake

By Miguel Arechaga

Snake is probably the most famous game in mobile phone history. Its rule is minimal — eat and don't crash — but as you grow it turns into a real test of planning and reflexes. Here's how to master it.

What is Snake?

You control a snake that keeps moving across the board. Every time it eats a piece of fruit, it grows and adds to your score. The challenge is that the longer it gets, the easier it becomes to crash into your own body.

How to play

  1. Press Start or any arrow key to begin.
  2. Change direction with the arrow keys (or W, A, S, D). On mobile, swipe your finger across the board.
  3. Eat each fruit: it adds to your score and lengthens the snake.
  4. You lose if you crash into an edge or into your own body.
  5. Your best score is saved automatically.

Tricks to survive longer

The secret of good players isn't reaction speed, it's order. Instead of heading straight for the fruit, move around the board following a fixed pattern — for example, a zigzag or hugging the edges — so you never box yourself in. Always leave an escape route before heading into a gap.

Remember you can't turn 180 degrees instantly: plan your turns ahead of time. Once the snake gets very long, prioritize keeping your body organized in parallel rows; that way you make the most of the space without trapping yourself.

Quick tips

Snake is addictive precisely because you can always top your last run. With patience and a good route, your record will climb game after game.

🏆 Score ranking

Snake has its own global ranking: your best score is saved. Go to Ranking, the 🕹️ 1 Player tab, choose "Snake" from the dropdown, and compare your score with other players, synced to your account. For your result to count you need a free account on MundoSudoku (just a username and password, no email required): you can play without one, but without logging in your score won't be saved to the ranking.
