How to Get Free MS Coins (Every Way, and the Daily Caps)

In short: Everything in Hotel MS can be had without paying. The biggest source is sudoku: 20 MS Coins for every game you win, up to ten a day. Add the twelve daily quests, room visits and your first chat message and a full day clears 420 MS without depending on luck β€” 630 if you fish and gather too.

MS Coins are the currency of Hotel MS: they pay for the furniture in your room, your avatar's clothes, pets and their food. You can buy them, but you don't have to. This is the full list of ways to earn them for free, what each one pays and where it stops.

Winning sudokus is by far the biggest source

Every game you complete while signed in gives you 20 MS Coins. Any board counts: the classic one, the daily sudoku and all 26 variants, at any difficulty. A two-minute 4Γ—4 pays exactly what a twenty-minute killer pays.

The limit is ten games a day, so 200 MS. From the eleventh on you still collect XP, streak and stars on the Master's Path, but that day's coins are already banked.

Two conditions. First, you have to be signed in β€” a guest game has no account to pay into. Second, the game has to be believable: a 9Γ—9 solved in a handful of seconds pays nothing, the same way it doesn't enter the ranking.

And you don't need to have set foot in the hotel. If you win sudokus with your account, the coins are kept for you: the day you walk in you'll find them waiting, with the 200 MS welcome gift on top.

The twelve daily quests: 185 MS

The hotel sets twelve quests that reset every day and pay themselves out the moment you finish them β€” there's no claim button. Their names are the same in every language, because that's how they appear in the game:

All twelve together are 185 MS a day, and none of them asks much: the six gathering quests are done with three resources, which take under a minute. The only one that needs anything in advance is Cuidador, since you need a pet to feed.

Wandering and talking pay too

Two small earnings for doing exactly what you do in a hotel:

Since the first three visits also count towards the Paseante quest, a lap through the room listing is the most profitable two minutes in the hotel.

Fishing and gathering: little in coins, plenty in everything else

On the beach and in the six gathering rooms β€” El Huerto, La Mina, El Bosque, La Granja, La Reserva and El Yacimiento β€” MS Coins do turn up, but in a trickle and with a cap: none of the seven places goes past 30 MS a day.

That's deliberate. What those rooms really pay is their own currencies β€” scales from fishing; harvest, shards and sap from gathering β€” which never convert into MS and only buy paintings and the furniture in the Workshop. You fish to collect, not to get rich.

Even so, dropping by all seven every day is up to 210 MS more. If you're curious, fishing has an article of its own.

The one-off payouts

What a day adds up to

Counting only what doesn't depend on luck:

420 MS Coins a day, with no requirement beyond turning up. With whatever fishing and gathering drop, the daily ceiling is 630. Every cap resets at midnight, mainland Spanish time.

And what that buys

Common furniture costs between 10 and 50 MS, rare pieces from 100 to 700, and epics from 500 up β€” the priciest thing in the shop is 2,500.

In other words: an ordinary day buys several common pieces, or one rare one. A week of playing a little each day buys the most expensive item there is. Nothing in the hotel is out of reach for someone who never pays.

Why there are caps at all

Because without them the hotel would be won by whoever could leave it open all night, and that isn't playing anything. Caps level the field: someone who plays half an hour and someone who plays six end the day in a similar place.

They're also the reason all of this can be published without small print. Buying coins shortens the road; it doesn't open any door that was closed.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to pay to get MS Coins?

No. Everything sold in the hotel can be paid for with coins earned by playing, including the most expensive furniture. Buying coins is optional and only shortens the wait.

I've won several sudokus in a row and I've stopped getting coins. Why?

Because sudoku pays for up to ten games a day, 200 MS Coins. After that the game still counts towards your streak, your XP and your stars, but it no longer pays coins. The counter goes back to zero at midnight.

Do MS Coins expire?

No. Once earned they stay in your account until you spend them. What resets every day is the caps, not your balance.

Coins are earned by playing, and the first sudoku of the day already counts.
