Decorate your room in Hotel MS: furniture, quests and pets
By Miguel Arechaga
Logging into Hotel MS and wandering around is great, but what really hooks you is having a place of your own. An empty room, two hundred coins, and some free time: that's how everyone starts.
Here's what you can buy, where to find it, what expires, and where the coins to pay for it come from.
Your room, your rules
In your rooms, you call the shots. You go into Decorate mode, pull furniture out of your backpack, place it wherever you like, and rotate it until it's facing the right way. Anything you're not happy with goes back in the backpack.
Once it's how you want it, you decide who gets in: open to the public, and it'll show up in the room listings for everyone, or with a password, so only people who know it can enter. You can also give it a name and a description.
The shop, by section
The catalog is organized into shelves: Living Room, Bedroom, Kitchen, Garden, Specials and Event. There's a bit of everything, from the side table and the cupboard to the sink, the fridge, the wardrobe, the hedge, the park bench, the koi pond and the jacuzzi.
On a computer you see all the sections at once; on mobile they run in a single row you swipe through with your finger.
What's only around for a month
Part of the catalog rotates every month: some furniture is in the shop window this month and gone the next. And there are two special months that bring their own items:
- ๐ Halloween, in October: a pumpkin, a tombstone, a cauldron and a witch's hat.
- ๐ Christmas, in December: a tree, a snowman, a sleigh and a Santa hat.
Important: what you buy never expires. If you bought the pumpkin in October, you can still have it out in May. What changes is what's available to buy, not what's already yours.
Sitting down counts too
Not all furniture is just for looks: quite a few pieces are seats. Chairs, sofas, stools, the park bench, the sleigh, and even the jacuzzi โ where sitting down really means climbing in. Your character switches to a sitting pose, and everyone in the room can see it.
What's more, sitting down with company counts toward one of the daily quests, so that chair basically pays for itself.
Dressing your avatar
Besides furniture, the shop also sells clothes, and the hotel gives you a wardrobe to change without leaving. Shirts, pants, shoes, and two slots that open up a lot of possibilities: glasses and a hand-held item.
Hairstyle, hair color and your avatar's colors can also be changed from inside, in the Customize panel, and the room sees you change instantly.
Pets
You can buy a dog, a cat or a duck. They follow you around your room with little steps, go around furniture, and never block your way. They have hunger and happiness meters that drop slowly: from full to empty takes a bit over a day.
Two things worth knowing: they never die โ at zero hunger they just lie down and stop following you, then get back up the moment they eat โ and food is used up the moment you give it to them. Treats, kibble, canned food or cake, from cheapest to most filling.
If you set out a food bowl, they'll head to it on their own once they get hungry. And anyone passing through your room can pet them, not just you.
Where MS Coins come from
All of this is paid for with MS Coins, and you earn them by playing:
- A 200 MS welcome bonus the first time you enter the hotel.
- By playing and winning games on MundoSudoku.
- Through daily quests: walking around, sitting down, chatting, caring for your pet, visiting rooms.
- By fishing at the beach and in La Barquera's estuary.
Buying coins is optional; nothing inside requires opening your wallet.
Getting people to come see it
A beautiful room that's kept locked is seen by you and pretty much no one else. Open it to the public and it'll appear in the listings, with its name and description, so anyone browsing can drop in. Every visit is counted, and visitors can leave you a like.
It's also the easiest way to make friends in there: people come in, look around, comment, and stay to chat.
Frequently asked questions
Can my pet die if I don't log in for a few days?
No. Pets in Hotel MS never die. At zero hunger they lie down and stop following you, and the moment you feed them, they get back up like nothing happened.
Do Halloween and Christmas furniture expire?
No. Whatever you buy is yours forever; what changes each month is what's for sale. If you liked the pumpkin, buy it in October and keep it out all year round.
Do I need to pay to have a decent room?
No. The entire catalog can be bought with MS Coins earned by playing: sudokus, daily quests, visits and fishing. Buying coins is optional.
You've got 200 MS Coins waiting for you and an empty room to fill.
