🟩 How to play Word Guess (our Wordle-style game)

By Miguel Arechaga

Word Guess is our take on the famous Wordle format. Figuring out a five-letter word in six tries is a daily challenge of logic and vocabulary. With the right strategy, you'll almost always crack it in four tries or fewer.

What is Word Guess?

There's a secret five-letter word. You type words and, after each guess, colors tell you how close you are. Using those clues, you narrow it down until you find the answer.

How to play and what the colors mean

  1. Type a five-letter word and press ENTER.
  2. Green: the letter is correct and in the right position.
  3. Yellow: the letter is in the word, but in a different spot.
  4. Gray: the letter isn't in the word.
  5. Use the clues to deduce the word before you run out of your six tries.

The starting-word strategy

Your first guess shouldn't be random. It's best to start with a word rich in common vowels and consonants. That way, in a single move, you discover how many vowels the answer has and where they sit, which is the most valuable information you can get.

On your second guess, use the yellow letters by placing them in a different position, and bring in new common consonants. Avoid repeating letters that already came back gray: you'd only be wasting a guess.

Quick tips

Word Guess blends deduction and vocabulary into quick, addictive rounds. With a good opening word you'll notice right away that you're solving it in fewer tries.

🏆 Streak ranking

Word Guess has its own global ranking: your longest streak of correctly guessed words in a row is saved. Go to Ranking, the 🕹️ 1 Player tab, choose "Word Guess" from the dropdown, and compare your score with other players, synced to your account. For your result to count you need a free account on MundoSudoku (just a username and password, no email required): you can play without one, but without logging in your score won't be saved to the ranking.
