🚗 How to play Rush Hour (Unblock)

By Miguel Arechaga

Rush Hour, also known internationally as Unblock, is a logic puzzle as simple to understand as it is hard to master. A trapped red car, an exit, and a pile of vehicles in the way: your mission is to clear a path. Here are the rules and how to solve the levels in fewer moves.

What is Rush Hour?

It's a sliding-block puzzle on a 6x6 grid. There are several cars and trucks, each occupying two or three cells. The red car is blocked and must reach the exit on the right side. The challenge lies in the order you move the other vehicles.

How to play step by step

  1. Each vehicle only slides in its own direction: horizontal ones left or right, vertical ones up or down.
  2. Cars don't turn and can't jump over others.
  3. Tap a car, then tap an empty cell in its line to slide it.
  4. The goal is to clear the path so the red car can exit to the right.
  5. Try to solve each level in the fewest moves possible.

Tips to solve the levels

Great mental training

Rush Hour trains planning, spatial reasoning and step-by-step thinking, the same skills you use in sudoku. It's perfect for challenging yourself with increasingly tangled levels.

🏆 Best solves ranking

Rush Hour has its own global ranking: your best solve, with fewer moves, is saved. Go to Ranking, the 🕹️ 1 Player tab, choose "Rush Hour" from the dropdown, and compare your score with other players, synced to your account. For your result to count you need a free account on MundoSudoku (just a username and password, no email required): you can play without one, but without logging in your score won't be saved to the ranking.
