📖 How to play Chess

1. You play with the white pieces and move first. Tap a piece to see its highlighted legal moves.
2. Tap a highlighted square to move the selected piece. The computer will respond automatically with black.
3. All rules apply: castling, en passant and promotion (pawns that reach the end become a queen).
4. If your king is in check, the square is marked in red and you must move to escape that threat.
5. The game ends in checkmate (no moves and the king is threatened) or draw by stalemate (no legal moves without being in check).

💡 Tip: control the center of the board in the first moves, it makes it easier to move the rest of your pieces.
