🎱 How to play Billiards (8-ball)

MundoSudoku's Billiards is for two players and you can play it two ways: from two different phones connected with a room code, or both on the same phone, taking turns. Here we explain how to get started and the basic rules of 8-ball.
Connecting two phones
- One player presses "Create room" and a 4-character code appears.
- The other player types that code and presses "Join room".
- Once you're connected, the match starts: whoever created the room is Player 1 and breaks.
- You can also both play on the same phone, taking turns, with "2 players here".
- If you'd rather not share a code, use "🔍 Find opponent" to be instantly matched with another available player.
- You can also add friends by their username from the 👥 Friends panel and challenge them directly with the "Challenge" button next to their name, without leaving the page.
How to shoot
On your turn, drag backward (in the opposite direction of where you want to shoot), like a slingshot: the cue ball moves forward, so your finger doesn't cover the area you're aiming at. The longer the drag, the more power (you'll see the percentage and a line marking the shot's direction).
8-ball rules
- At the start, the groups are unassigned. The first player to pocket a ball claims that group: solids (1 to 7) or stripes (9 to 15).
- If you pocket a ball, you keep shooting. If you don't pocket any, it's your opponent's turn.
- Pocketing the cue ball is a foul: the turn passes and the cue ball is repositioned.
- Once you've pocketed all your balls, pocket the 8-ball to win.
- Pocketing the 8-ball too early (or along with a foul) makes you lose the match.
Tips
- Control your power: don't always shoot at 100%; medium power leaves the cue ball better positioned for the next shot.
- Think about position: try to leave the cue ball with a good angle for the next shot after pocketing a ball.
- Watch out for the 8-ball: always save it for last and make sure you've pocketed all your balls first.

All your online Billiards matches are recorded on your account: every win (and every loss) adds to your history. Go to Ranking, the 🎮 2 Players tab, choose "Billiards" from the dropdown, and check your position against other players, synced across all your devices. For your result to count you need a free account on MundoSudoku (just a username and password, no email required): you can play without one, but without signing in your score isn't saved to the ranking.
